A change to the layout of a home can involve much more than removing a partition. Larger openings, new connections between rooms and alterations for an extension need a clear understanding of the existing building and the proposed structure.
We discuss the intended scope against the available drawings and structural information. The aim is to establish what is being built, how it connects to the existing house and which follow-on trades and finishes need to be included.
Alterations, underpinning and new construction
We undertake structural alterations, underpinning and new builds. These are different types of work, so a useful enquiry explains the purpose of the project and includes any professional reports or design information already available.
For an existing property, photographs can help introduce the site, but concealed construction and access still need consideration. For new construction, share the site layout and specification as well as the proposed building drawings.
Agreeing the boundaries of the work
A structural quotation should be clear about the work included around the main structure. Discuss demolition, removal of waste, making good and the point at which the space will be handed over for the next stage.
